Four Essex men have been jailed after £50 million worth of cocaine was found inside a taxi at Tilbury docks.

Greg Spiers, 48, of London Road, Billericay was part of a group of three other men at the centre of a 225kg drugs bust by Met Police on July 21, 2015.

Police stopped a van and a taxi at the Port of Tilbury in the morning as they tried to leave the area with 200kg of high purity cocaine being seized from one of the vehicles.

Both lanes of the A12 are blocked, with eight miles of queues developing after an accident involving a lorry and an overturned car.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene, in between junctions 12 for Mountnessing and 13 for Ingatestone, with queues heading back to the Brook Street Roundabout and the junction for the M25.

The A120 has now been partially re-opened after a serious crash where a lorry went into a bridge near Colchester.

The incident, on the eastbound carriageway between the A133 and the Ardleigh Interchange, completely shut the road for around two hours on Tuesday morning (May 17).

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a crash on the A12 near Chelmsford. The biker, a man in his 20s, crashed on Sunday (February 28) at around 11.15pm at Boreham.
